Staff Accountant

Our General Accounting position is responsible for a broad array of accounting functions which includes, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of general ledger accounts, financial statements and subsidiary ledgers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Prepares balance sheet account reconciliations on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
  • Prepares or assist in preparing month-end closing journal entries.
  • Reconciles revenue on a monthly basis
  • Maintains ad hoc reports
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned


General Qualifications



  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5+ years’ experience
  • Microsoft Dynamics (Great Plains) Financial System preferred
  • Understanding and practice of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Understanding of the general ledger and month-end closing process
  • Good computer skills with strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office software. Advanced Excel with pivot tables & VLOOKUP preferred.
  • Must be able to analyze data for reasonableness and understand relationships
  • Must possess strong organizational skills and be detail oriented
  • Must possess an ability to perform multiple tasks and meet critical deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality
  • Strong interpersonal written and oral communication skills

People Newspapers a D Magazine affiliate, is seeking an Assistant Art Director to help produce two monthly community newspapers, a weekly tab supplement and various digital products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with art director and editors, freelance writers and photographers to design and produce print and digital newspapers, magazines, blogs and e-newsletters
  • Work with sales department to produce advertisements to be placed in all People Newspapers print and digital products
  • Work with Publisher and other key staff members on marketing material, sales pieces and client proposals
  • Manage relationship with production team at print facility

  • 3+ year’s experience in graphic design and or production
